9. Hanging Concrete Bell Pendant

9

While industrial design often treats concrete as a cold, sterile building material, Wabi Sabi reinterprets concrete through a soft, warm, and poetic lens. A hanging concrete bell pendant features a simple, organic dome shape cast with intentional surface voids, air bubbles, color variations, and rough, raw edges. Rather than being sealed with a glossy chemical topcoat, the concrete is left raw, matte, and delightfully porous.

The magic of a concrete bell light lies in its surprising warmth when turned on. The interior of the shade can be left light grey to softly scatter downlight, or hand-gilded with a subtle layer of leafed copper or dark gold to create a rich, glowing internal fire. Suspended over a kitchen island, a dark wood coffee table, or a cozy lounge area, these heavy concrete shades provide focused downlighting while serving as minimalist visual anchors during the day.
