Creepy Coffin Prop with Emerging Ghoul

20

The ultimate centerpiece for any classic haunted yard display is a life-sized, weathered wooden coffin. Construct a simple toe-pincher style coffin using lightweight plywood or pallet boards. Stain the wood a dark, decaying brown or charcoal gray, and distress the edges with a hammer and sandpaper to make it look like it was recently exhumed from the earth.

Prop the coffin lid slightly open with a sturdy wooden stick, and have a terrifying skeleton, a decaying zombie, or a classic vampire prop peeking out from the dark interior. Install a red or green LED spotlight inside the coffin to illuminate the emerging figure’s face, and run a hose from a fog machine into the back of the coffin so thick, heavy fog constantly spills out over the edges. This show-stopping DIY project is guaranteed to be the highlight of your neighborhood’s Halloween night.
