Rustic Reclaimed Wood Graveyard Tombstones

5

Ditch the flimsy, store-bought foam tombstones that blow away in the wind and opt for heavy, realistic grave markers crafted from reclaimed wood pallet boards. Cut the tops of the boards into classic arched, pointed, or cracked shapes. Sand the edges slightly, then apply a weathered gray stain or a matte charcoal paint. Use stencils or freehand painting to add classic epitaphs, creepy names, and dates of the deceased using white or metallic silver paint.

To make the graveyard look authentic, drive wooden stakes into the back of each tombstone and hammer them securely into the soil. Mound fresh dirt, dark mulch, or dead leaves at the base of each marker to simulate a freshly dug grave. Add finishing touches like faux moss, plastic crows perched on top, and a low-lying fog machine hidden behind the headstones to create a chilling, atmospheric cemetery right in your front yard.
